Method 1: Using WordPress admin dashboard

You just have to click on “please update now” and it will start updating your WordPress version.

Method 2: For manual WordPress update use FTP

This method will allow you to use FTP to manually upload the FTP files. If you are unable to update your WordPress ecosystem with the first method then we suggest you go with this. To start updating with this method you will require a FileZilla.

You will need the password, user name, port, and hostname to use the FTP program. After getting all this information you can follow the steps mentioned below

Step 1: From the official WordPress website download the latest version of WP. And using WinRAR extract the WordPress archive to the computer.

Step 2: Using FTP details try to access the WordPress root directory.

Now move newly version files to the root directory.

Delete current wp-includes and wp-admin folder.

Step 3: Upload the current version of files and folders.

After removing the wp-includes and wp-admin folder upload the new one.

Inside the computer system go to the WordPress folder and select the wp-admin and wp-includes folder. Choose the upload option by right-clicking on it and overwrite the file.

Method 3:Using WP-CLI and SSH

In this, you will have to use SSH. To go to the root directory use the cd command.

cd publich_html

Then see the WordPress version

WP core check-update

Now it will show the update if there is any

If there is no update then some message will appear like “success: WordPress is the new version.”

Use below commands for updating WordPress:

WP core update

After starting updating it will clean up the files and after cleaning up it will show the message like

Success: WordPress is updated successfully.

The following commands can be used if you are updating WordPress core by WP-CLI

Simple WordPress themes: wp theme update -all

Database updates: wp core update-db

Plugin updates: wp plugin update-all
